Education

Cornell University '16

As a Communication major with a focus on social influence, I have impeccable writing and researching skills and consider myself to be a creative and strategic persuader.

Early on, I learned basic research methods for communication studies. This required the ability to solve communication research problems empirically by using social scientific research, random sampling, questionnaire design, experimental research design, focus group techniques, content analysis, and basic descriptive and inferential statistics. For this work, it was necessary to learn basic data manipulation, presentation, and analysis techniques using SPSS and EXCEL.

These research skills have helped me throughout all of my classes in the years that followed. I've taken a wide variety of intensive writing courses, which required not only thorough research assignments, but also literature reviews and press releases. In one of my classes, Communicating for Impact, I spent the entire semester researching and writing on the prevalence of heroin in suburban towns. I stressed the need for awareness of the current heroin epidemic through research papers, op-eds, news stories, and infographics.

Communicating through different formats and mediums is one of my highly valued skills. In addition to writing, I've learned how to orally communicate effectively and I enjoy public speaking.

These experiences have prepared me for the challenges and opportunities I look forward to in the future.

This was made to be a visual presentation of my chosen semester topic in my Communicating for Impact class.

This literature review is a content analysis of 10 articles, assessing smoking continuants who have tried to quit, but relapsed.
